Overview
The final year of engineering for any student plays a very important role in his/her career. All the final year students are required to submit a project which will be assessed and on the basis of which marks will be given to every student. Now, it is necessary to choose a proper project as there is a possibility of the choice of project may be appropriate but the implementation might not be possible at all. Hence projects have to be chosen that are both ideally and practically appropriate. Making a choice for choosing a project is considered to be the hardest choice that the students have to make is what every final year student has to say. But when you have someone who is aiding you in your choice of making the right choice for the project then your hardship is reduced considerably. This is what VIT aims at by establishing the FINAL YEAR PROJECT QUALITY ASSURANCE COMMITTEE. It is also necessary that the projects that are chosen be of high quality because if the project turns out to a complete success and if the students are lucky enough to get their project report published then, it definitely adds and extra zest to their resumes which in turn has the power of shaping their careers

To achieve very meaningful, useful projects. To make students think. To inculcate project handling skills.
Scope
The following are the scopes that the committee aims to acomplish in every academic year:
- Project Selection & Quality
Final Year Project is significant activity for students. Hence, Project Selection shall be given utmost importance. Students may be asked to present one or more project ideas before scrutiny panel constituted by the department. Following points shall be considered while selection of project.
- Quality based on field of study and depth of work planned
- Suitability of project based on facilities available in college
- Budget requirements
- Area of interest by Faculty
Staff members shall communicate his/her area of interest to students. This be done by displaying information on Notice Board. If staff member has any workable industry projects, he/she can also provide specific project information. Students may be then asked to approach staff members for discussion and mutual understanding.
- Number of projects per staff member
- Number of projects per staff member may be limited to two.
- Continuous Assessment
Project is of 2 semesters duration. Hence sufficient time period is available for this activity. However, this period must be properly utilized to complete overall project activity. Project group beasked to prepare overall planning for various activities involved in projects e.g. reference work, field work, visits to experts/industry, actual implementation and project write up. This work be assessed periodically by project guide and departmental sub–committee. Students shall maintain a project diary for this purpose.
- Budget
Department may provide nominal budget for project. This budget may be drawn from departmental budget provided for equipment purchase. Head of Department and departmental sub–committee may take decision in the matter. Maximum amount allowed per project may be Rs. 3000/–.
- Submission
Project group is expected to prepare and submit a project report in the prescribed format.
